Rochelle-As the City of Rochelle advances its plan to demolish the Hickory Grove Ballroom, paving the way for new developers, Bearrow's real estate and auction company is auctioning many buildings.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the auction will be held online from July 30th to August 20th at 9pm. The auction can be done by visiting www.bearrows.com and clicking on the Hibid link or directly visiting www.bearrows. hibid.com

After entering the website, individuals can browse items on multiple pages, bid on them, and even track specific items by placing them on a watch list. There are many different items for sale, including Rochelle souvenirs, banquet room furniture, kitchen supplies and more.

"From the framed memorabilia of Rochelle's original building to the memorabilia of the original developer of the building, John W. Tilton," said John Bill Rose, Mayor of Rochelle and owner of Bearrows Auctions. "There are also many banquet and kitchen supplies, such as tables, stackable chairs, grills, and walk-in coolers and freezers. There is something for everyone."

The main goal of the auction is to clean the interior of the building and raise funds for future projects. All proceeds from the auction will be used for the demolition of the project or other related expenses.

The city is currently working to obtain Illinois reconstruction grants to help fund the project. If the city can get funding, it will start the demolition of the Hickory Grove building next spring; if it does not get a grant, the demolition project will begin this fall.

Bearrows said: "His goal is to build and build this building to provide a ready site for new developers to enter the city." "Developing new businesses in the town will also help bring new jobs."

The online auction will last until August 20.

"We are just encouraging locals to participate in this auction to get one or two souvenirs and to fund future development projects," Bearrows said.
